City Cycling at Arrenberg

The international climate protection campaign “Stadtradeln” has been organized by Klima-Bündnis since 2008 and encourages people to make as many of their daily trips as possible by bike. Thousands of municipalities and millions of cyclists in Germany and Europe now participate every year.

Wuppertal also regularly participates in STADTRADELN. Together, clubs, companies, schools, neighborhoods, and initiatives form numerous teams to collect cycling kilometers for greater climate protection, cleaner air, and a more bike-friendly city. One of these teams is the “Radelnde Arrenberg,” where neighbors from our neighborhood pedal together.

During STADTRADELN 2026, 247 teams were active in Wuppertal. During the campaign weeks in May 2026, more than 600,000 kilometers were cycled citywide. This prevented the emission of approximately 100 metric tons of CO₂ compared to equivalent car trips. Year after year, the campaign demonstrates the potential for sustainable mobility in Wuppertal.

Der Radelnde Arrenberg participates in the campaign year after year and, together with the many other teams in Wuppertal, highlights just how much climate-friendly mobility is already a part of daily life in Wuppertal—whether commuting to work, running errands, going to school, or simply enjoying leisure time.
