The Mountain of Books

Used books at low prices

The popular Arrenberg Book Market (founded as “Buch. Bäm. Buch”) continues: Several times a year, “Aufbruch” transforms into a book flea market featuring rare and entertaining finds—a treasure trove of romance novels, mystery novels, and children’s books; for biographies and fiction; for nonfiction and cookbooks; for illustrated books and hiking maps; and for everything from regional to world literature.

Everyone needs books to embark on a journey, discover the world, and keep their mind active. Books remain what they’ve always been: inspiring, entertaining, comforting, or gripping—the most valuable luggage on our journey through the day, the night, and into life itself. Some we’d like to keep forever, but new ones need their place too—and many books should be read more than once.

For one day, the neighborhood office will transform into your very own bookstore! Here, the tables are laden with exciting books—old or nearly new—at the most reasonable prices. The proceeds will benefit the “Der wissende Arrenberg” project, which explores and showcases the history of our neighborhood and its people.

What Books Mean

Everyone needs books to discover the world and keep their minds active. Books remain what they’ve always been: inspiring, entertaining, comforting, or gripping—the most valuable companion on our journey through life. There are some we’d like to keep forever, but many suddenly become “surplus” because we need space—or because life, and with it our reading, unfortunately comes to an end.

So “Bücherberg” not only distributes interesting printed material but also, in many cases, helps neighbors with the difficult task of sorting through and organizing their bookshelves before moves or clearing out apartments—and expertly weeding out what’s no longer suitable (because sometimes that has to be done, too).—If books are suddenly not just a pleasure but also a burden to you, please talk to us. Our storage space and time are limited, but we’ll try to help as much as we can.
