Demolition of a Cult Bar
Does anyone else remember that bar on the corner of Ernststr. and Masurenstr.? It's being torn down now.

It's been a long time since beer was on tap at 15 Ernststr. For the past few years, it's been an apartment. Now the building is being torn down. Does anyone still know the name of the bar and some of the stories behind it?
And what's going to happen there now? Will a new building be constructed?
Nein, in dem Haus war eine Wohnung. Der Schlosser war ein Hof daneben.
Da wird ein neues Mehrfamilienhaus gebaut. Baugenehmigung ist erteilt.
Na denn: Welcome to Arrenberg!

Thursday, June 18 Final Storytelling Gathering with Arrenmahl
Chatting and reminiscing together over a simple, delicious dinner at the long table overlooking the Arrenberg.

“Who would even want to know that?” – “Who am I supposed to tell this to?” These are the kinds of questions many older people living alone in our neighborhood ask themselves when it comes to sharing stories “from back in the day.” This winter, we’re inviting you to “Aufbruch” on ten evenings to share your stories and listen to one another. What was it like growing up in Arrenberg? Who lived where, and what happened in all those houses and streets? Was everything really better back then? And what will tomorrow bring, with all the new Arrenberg residents?—This question, by the way, is an old one, because everyone in Arrenberg came here from somewhere else at one time.
The storytelling gathering is about not sitting alone at home, but chatting around a long table, reminiscing together, and enjoying a simple, good dinner. Remembering isn’t just about the dramatic moments, but also about ordinary, everyday life. Our archivist takes the liberty of jotting down some of the stories and even preparing a few for publication later on. – You’re welcome to come as often as you like: once or every time. Because when someone is telling a story, others should be listening, too.
The storytelling gathering, which includes dinner and a drink, is made possible by a grant from the Jackstädt Foundation.
Admission, as well as dinner and a drink (water is included anyway), are free.
