The Bergisch Education Network for Businesses and Schools
KURS 21 e.V. has been active as a nonprofit organization in the Bergisch City Triangle since 2008. We see ourselves as a regional educational network guided by the principle of sustainability, which develops and implements a broad range of educational programs at the intersection of schools and business. At KURS 21, schools and businesses work hand in hand—whether it’s helping students explore career paths, training teachers, providing targeted and practical professional development for school administrators and business leaders, or establishing exciting projects and competitions that bridge the gap between schools and the business world.
KURS 21 develops innovative projects and supports schools and businesses in shaping sustainable development processes. The educational network offers schools and businesses a broad portfolio of seminars, workshops, and think tanks and practical workshops, as well as professional development opportunities for students, teachers, and business representatives alike. Schools and companies come together through company tours, internships, and events such as lectures and conferences.
KURS 21 is a driving force whose long-term goal is to sustainably strengthen the regional educational landscape in the Wuppertal, Solingen, and Remscheid area through its diverse activities. The association’s members include numerous schools, companies from various industries, and other key organizations in the region. Through innovative projects, schools and companies are brought together in a dialogue on the topic of sustainability. The insights students gain through their interactions with companies help young people make the transition from school to the working world.
“We want to shape the regional educational landscape to be fit for the future. In doing so, we consistently guide our work by the principle of sustainability—the five-fold harmony of economic, ecological, social, cultural, and political thinking and action. Sustainability is the common thread running through our activities, and Education for Sustainable Development is our conceptual foundation.”
The KURS 21 e.V. Education Network has been recognized by the ESD Agency of North Rhine-Westphalia as a “Certified Institution for Education for Sustainable Development.” Extracurricular educational institutions receive this certificate following an intensive review of their quality development. At its core, criteria across eight quality areas are used to establish education for sustainable development. The goal is to engage and empower the younger generation to shape an increasingly fast-changing world in a sustainable way. The aim is to support students in their thinking and actions and to guide them in their self-efficacy processes.
There are several ways to support the work of KURS 21: You can support us financially through a one-time donation or as a long-term (supporting) member (membership application).
