The “WupperRing” student project at the Wilhelm-Dörpfeld-Gymnasium has now had 42 new deposit rings installed on trash cans throughout Wuppertal—with a focus on the Arrenberg district, where 28 rings have been installed. The metal rings make it possible to place returnable bottles in a visible and clean manner. This allows people who collect bottles for the deposit to easily retrieve them without having to search through the trash.
The installation was carried out in collaboration with the Wuppertal Street Cleaning Department (ESW). The project was funded by the participatory budget as well as a donation from Wolk AG, which is headquartered in Arrenberg. Our association also actively supported the students in setting up their business; with the help of volunteers, we provided professional business equipment that the young entrepreneurs are using to attract additional partners for their idea.
The goal is to establish additional deposit rings in Wuppertal and beyond. The organizers welcome inquiries from neighborhoods, initiatives, or companies interested in supporting the project. For more information, visit http://www.wupperring.de
